Students were asked to write a song, poem or short story on the theme of ‘What does Green-School's Travel mean to me or my school'. The 19 prize winners will each receive a new bike and safety gear and a prize-fund will be given to the winning schools to be used for their Green-School's programme to further develop their environmental work in the school. The Recycling School of the Year Award went to Midleton CBS in Co. Cork and the two runners-up were Inchicore National School, Dublin 8 and Brierhill National School, Co. Galway. The Award, organised by Repak, in association with An Taisce's Green-Schools programme is designed to reward a school that has gone to extra lengths to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. All schools that achieve Green-Flag status for Litter & Waste for the previous school year are entered in the competition.
