St. Patricks Day Parades in Ireland were turned even Greener this year through the brilliant floats, costumes, banners and balloons on show from the huge amount of Green-Schools that took part in their local parades around the country!

Active Environmental Education– Greater Dublin Area Summer Course 2009 was held from 6th July - 10th July 2010. The course was a great success. Teachers received talks and workshops relating to the themes of Litter and Waste, Energy, Water, Travel and Biodiversity!

Green-Schools Travel Competition 2010 Winner's Posters
Green-Schools Travel Competition 2010: Schools promoting sustainable travel (walking, cycling, carpooling or public transport,) as part of the Green-Schools Travel programme funded by the Department of Transport, were invited to enter this year’s competition. Students were asked to write a song, poem or short story on the theme of ‘What does Green-School’s Travel mean to me or my school’. The 19 prize winners will each receive a new bike and safety gear and a prize-fund will be given to the winning schools to be used for their Green-School’s programme to further develop their environmental work in the school.

Repak Recycling School of the Year Awards 2010
The 10th Repak Awards Ceremony was held at the new Convention Centre in Spencer Dock on the 7th October, 2010. The Recycling School of the Year Award went to Midleton CBS in Co. Cork and the two runners-up were Inchicore National School, Dublin 8 and Brierhill National School, Co. Galway. The Award, organised by Repak, in association with An Taisce's Green-Schools programme is designed to reward a school that has gone to extra lengths to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. All schools that achieve Green-Flag status for Litter & Waste for the previous school year are entered in the competition.
