We are delighted to announce that the Green-Schools Travel Competition 2010 is now open to all schools working on the Green-Schools Travel Flag. Total prize fund is €5000!
The aim
Green-Schools Travel encourages students, parents and teachers to walk, cycle, park ‘n’ stride, use the bus, rail or carpool instead of using the private car on the school run.
How to take part
The competition is open to schools who are working on or have worked on the Green-Schools travel theme. Using a song, poem or short story, describe what Green-Schools Travel means to you.
· Short story (500 word maximum)
· Poem (1 sided A4 page maximum)
· Song (include a recording of the song (audio or video) and written lyrics. Songs may be performed individually or in groups (with a maximum 5 persons per group).

Competition categories
· Category A: Jr. Infants – 2nd Class
· Category B: 3rd Class – 6th Class
· Category C: Secondary School (all years)
Closing Date
The closing date for the receipt of entries is 26th March 2010, 4:00 p.m.

Winners and prizes
There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner from each category.
Win prizes to the value of €5000! Winning schools will receive a cash prize to be used for green-schools activities in their school. Individual winners will receive a bicycle and other fantastic prizes.
Winners will be invited to a prestigious awards ceremony held in May.
