The Green-Schools Travel Competition is now open and we are searching for Ireland’s Sustainable Travel School 2013. If you think it could be your school, we want to hear from you!
What are we looking for?
Schools big and small, rural and urban, primary, secondary and education centres that have achieved a significant and measurable shift away from the private car on their everyday school journeys. We are looking for those schools that have taken an innovative approach to promoting greener travel modes and who can demonstrate a proven system of recording their success. We want schools that can show us their whole school commitment to a sustainable travel ethos!
Does this sound like your school?
Then fill in the entry form and tell us why you think your school deserves the title Ireland’s Sustainable Travel School of the Year 2013. Awards will be made in a number of travel categories (walking, cycling, park and stride, carpooling, bus or multiple modes) One school will then be awarded the title of Ireland’s Sustainable Travel School of the Year 2013! The competition is open to all schools that have participated, or are participating, in the Green-Schools Travel programme.
How will schools be judged?
Schools will be judged based on their application and shortlisted schools will then undergo an unannounced visit from An Taisce judges.
What are the prizes?
The overall winning school will receive a cash prize of €1000 to be used for their Green-Schools Travel programme, with category winners each receiving prizes of €500. The overall winning school will also receive a fun-filled travel action day at their school.
