The Green-Code is a statement of the objectives demonstrating the school’s commitment to environmentally friendly actions.
It should be negotiated by as many of the pupils and staff as possible and related to the action plan and curriculum work. The code should be displayed somewhere prominent and updated as new issues are addressed. It is important that pupils feel they have had involvement in developing this code, otherwise they will ignore it. Personal and social education periods offer a good place for discussing the values underlying a common Green-Code, and provide an opportunity to extend the discussion to personal codes and values. Alternatively, this could take place in tutor time, or in class. The Green-Code could be released to the local press and the general public.
‘To save our planet is the plan; we will do the best we can.
BIODIVERSITY is a life of variety, from bugs and bees to plants and trees.
BIODIVERSITY is Nature’s way of keeping our world in balance today.
A life of variety can help us all now, from butterflies, bees and even our cows.
On the heap goes your peal to give the worms a nice big meal.
BIODIVERSITY is all about NATURE so why don’t YOU help to be
its SAVIOUR.
Let’s save our planet, that’s what we’ll do, it all starts off with ME and YOU.
BIODIVERSITY is the way to go. Let’s get together, Don’t be slow.'
