This site is designed as a resource for schools & their wider communities that are interested in or that are already undertaking the Green-Schools programme. News - Green-Schools Travel Roll Out

Green-Schools has been running a Pilot Programme on Travel in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) since 2005.This pilot was funded by the Dublin Transportation Office (DTO). The pilot has proved to be such a success that the DTO and the Department of Transport is now providing funding to allow the national roll out of the Green-Schools Travel programme. This year around 270 schools will commence the Green-Schools Travel programme.

News - Energy Partner ESBIE

We are delighted to announce that ESB Independent Energy have come on board as a sponsor and partner for the Energy Theme of the Green-Schools programme. Schools that are on the second year of the energy theme have been involved in a new Green-Schools ESBIE initiative where by schools exchange their best pracitce on energy managment with local business. The schools were asked to submitted their experience as a case study competition. For more information and the winners and runners-up click here. 

News - Value of Green-Schools

Recent research on the economic value of the Green-Schools programme to schools in Ireland has revealed that the programme has saved schools in Ireland a minimum 2 million euro in waste, electricity, water and fuel costs this year more>>

News - Carbon Calculator

Repak have developed a carbon calculator for schools. This web based programme will allow you to easily input your schools recycling and waste data along with water and energy consumption to produce an overall carbon foot print report for your school. To try it out click here
