Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment.

Eco-Schools is operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) whose main partners include the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Minister Paschal Donohoe TD launches Green-Schools National Walk to School Week

Schools across Ireland are currently putting plans in motion to take part in National Walk to School Week, which takes place next week, from Monday May 11th to Friday, May 15th.

Water School of the Year Awards Announced

A secondary school from Tallaght and a primary school from Mayo were today named Ireland’s Water Schools of the Year at a ceremony in Dublin’s Royal College of Physicians. Six other schools were also awarded regional prizes for their success in reducing their water consumption, spreading awareness about water issues and involving their community in their Green-Schools Water programme.

Teacher Training Courses

Five Green-Schools Teacher Training Summer Courses will take place in July. The courses will cover all six themes of the Green-Schools programme and will help you incorporate these themes into the curriculum.The courses will provide useful information, supports and resources to help you and your school with whatever stage of the programme you are at. Included in the courses are daily lectures; field trips and active learning
